A brief biography

Kru Paul is a teacher who lives in Westville, Durban. He has over 25 years experience in both sport and traditional martial arts and specializes in South East Asian fighting systems. He now mostly devotes his time to teaching a small and dedicated group of students who seek to learn the ancient ways of combat. A timeline of this experience can be summarized as follows:
  • 1995 - 1998: Studied the Balitok Eskrima system of Grandmaster Abner Pasa.
  • 1998 - 2005: Studied Kalaripayattu, Muay Thai Boran, Shaolin 5 animals, Sun style Xing Yi Quan and Bagua Quan under the guidance of Sifu Paul Whitrod. Paul completed his instructors certificate in Sun style Bagua Quan.
  • 2005 - 2010: Moved to Thailand to study Krabi Krabong and Muay Boran at the Buddhai Sawan Sword Institure in Bangkok. This school is head by Ajarn Pramote Messamana. Additionally, Paul studied Sport Muay Thai under Kru Jitti Damiram fought in the ring many times.
  • 2010 - present: Studying classical Muay Thai Sangha, Muay Thai Chaiya and Krabi Krabong under the guidance of Kru Pedro Solana.
